Job Description:

We are looking for Operating Theatre Nurses to join our projects worldwide.

We deliver across the medical spectrum from primary care and occupational health to advanced pre-hospital trauma care, through to full-scale laboratory, radiological, diagnostic, and surgical capabilities.


The Operating Theatre Nurse ensures the delivery of nursing care to surgical patients before, during and after operations, within the multi-disciplined team.


Duties and responsibilities:


  • Ensure the operation room is prepared for the surgery, with all operating room equipment maintained in good condition and functioning properly.
  • Assist the surgeons during surgery, and coordinate with surgical technicians.
  • Responsible for sterility of the operating room and ensuring no contamination.
  • Observing the patient during a surgical procedure to detect possible complications and/or breaks in sterile technique.
  • Implementing aseptic techniques at all the time
  • Providing emergency equipment and supplies throughout.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team in IPC program implementation.
  • Cleaning or directing the cleaning and sterilization of contaminated instruments, equipment and supplies and resterilizing unused supplies.
  • Responsible for CSSD
  • Cleaning of the operating room and clinical waste management after each Operation
  • Care of medical equipment (apparatus and instruments) in the Operating Room
  • Provide general scrub or running nurse duties in support of the surgical team as directed.
  • Participate fully in training and exercises. Support the delivery and
  • Participate fully in Departmental and Facility Quality and Assurance activities. Support the delivery and administration of such Q & A activities.

Qualifications:


  • Academic Nurse qualification with current registration/licence to practice
  • At least 5 years formal work experience as a theatre nurse / surgical team member
  • Current ACLS/ALS certification
Additional Information

Rotations are typically 6 weeks on duty and 6 weeks off duty, but dependent on the project. Flights, food and accommodation are provided whilst on duty at the project site.
