Job Title

  • Senior Specialist Business Support Unit (BSU) JR Location
  • Johannesburg, Gauteng
    Job Purpose
  • Steer and support efficient and effective evidencebased decisionmaking on identified risk transactions as well as supporting the establishment and management of the Centre of Excellence for Transaction screening/ Anti Money Laundering (AML). To drive a digital culture shift, innovation, and optimisation of generic processes through digitisation. Adherence to compliance requirements to minimise operational risk and identify and mitigate risk by adhering to the risk framework principles and ensuring sustainable business through alignment of business structures, systems, and processes.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide SME input into transactional screening methodologies, systems, and processes to ensure an effective screening process that will protect Nedbank and the payment system form illegal and unethical funds transfer that can result in both reputational and regulatory risks
  • Actively scrutinise Transactional Verification Centre (TVC) escalations including Trade based finance (TBF) documentary credit transactions, identified high risk industries, Inward Payments (IPs), and Outward Payments (OPs) in terms of Money Laundering (ML), Terrorist Financing (TF), reputational risk, sanctions, and financial crime indicators in line with the requirements set by CIB AML or Group AML.
  • Analyse escalations per sector and client and recommend specific TVC mandates to expedite transaction screening, improve client experience, and optimise escalation efficiency.
  • Ensure a goldstandard client experience by providing efficient and reliable services across the relevant value chain.
  • Drive efficiency through digitising the endtoend business support valuechain including the decisionmaking on identified risk transactions
  • Ensure an effective control environment based on regulatory compliance, risk management, market conduct and other business process obligations to ensure alignment with independent audit controls.
  • Responsible for the preparation, liaising, signoff, and maintaining of Transaction Due Diligence documentation (TDD) for CIB clients for the documentary trade products.
  • Prioritise transactional analysis, providing decisions in line with mandates and escalation to the Transactional Reputational Risk Committee (TRCC) and management information to the relevant risk governance committees.
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) in collaboration with the relevant CIB coverage or the commercial banker to the TRCC for review approval.
  • Adhere to SARB regulations, Group policy and guidelines in collaboration with Group AML to enhance risk profiling and client experience.
  • Identify and resolve pain points through the engagement and escalation to the Senior Manager.
  • Support opportunities to improve business processes, systems, and digitisation by implementing effective ways to operate and providing feedback to the Senior Manager
  • Resolve exceptions that arise by taking appropriate action to minimise risk and financial loss.
  • Ensure seamless client experience through efficient and reliable services by prioritising high value clients.


  • Essential Qualifications

  • NQF Level
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees


  • Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • Minimum Experience Level 7+ years' experience in Financial Services focused on Middle Office, Support Client Operations.
