    Key Role Overview

    This senior leadership position reports to the Environmental Practice Area (EPA) Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for driving the annual business strategy for the Africa EPA team, positioning it as the sector lead. The role requires strong interpersonal skills and provision of mentorship and guidance to all team members.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Drive the annual business strategy for the Africa EPA team with support from the EPA Senior Leadership Team.
    • Collaborate with other P&A team leads.
    • Contribute to wider WSP business policies.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the Africa EPA team, including South Africa, Mozambique, and Ghana teams.
    • Chair team coordination meetings to discuss resourcing pressures, opportunities, and business administration aspects.
    • Chair Africa EPA team meetings quarterly to review financial performance, opportunities, projects, and people aspects.
    • Assist with business administration and remove roadblocks where necessary.
    • Manage crisis situations.
    • Lead recruitment efforts for the team as required.

    Business Development Focus

    • Key client/account relationship management.
    • Participation in marketing and business development activities.
    • Proposal development.
    • Tender Go-No-Go decisions.
    • Technical and financial sign-off of proposals according to Authority Matrix.

    Commercial Acumen

    • Responsible for the financial performance of the EPA team (RSA, Moz, Ghana) and achieving financial targets for EPA Africa.
    • Manage and analyze the Project Forecasting Tool (PFT) and provide guidance to the team on financial systems.
    • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and invoicing progress.
    • Review debt and follow up on significant debts where necessary.

    Technical Expertise

    • Lead or prominent roles in delivering local and international (Africa) projects.
    • Offer technical guidance and support on projects as needed.
    • Maintain professional registration and technical capabilities.
    • Engage with clients and stakeholders at senior executive levels, providing support and guidance on critical E&S aspects affecting their projects.
