    Compliance Specialist

    The Compliance Specialist will provide advice, guidance, oversight, and assurance on the adherence to compliance practices in Group Finance to ensure compliance risks for applicable legislation are identified, assessed, managed, and reported on.

    This role is responsible for maintaining stakeholder relationships and ensuring the profile of Shared Services Compliance is elevated and maintained.

    The incumbent will develop and maintain a clear understanding of the scope and nature of the business conducted by the cluster.

    A risk-based approach will be adopted in the management of compliance risk as per the Nedbank Compliance Framework.

    The Compliance Specialist must have a solid understanding of all core and/or high-risk legislation that applies to the cluster.

    Regulatory developments/changes that may potentially impact the cluster will be kept abreast of, and relevant stakeholders will be engaged on a timely basis to ensure business readiness and ongoing compliance risk management.

    Advisory services will be provided in the review of policies and implementation of regulatory projects.

    The annual Compliance Coverage Plan for the cluster will be executed within set timelines.

    End-to-end compliance risk management for the cluster (identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report) will be managed, including but not limited to tracking of findings and committee reporting/submissions.

    Co-ordinated assurance relationships will be managed.

    A culture of compliance will be fostered through training, awareness, and becoming a trusted advisor to the business while maintaining independence.

    Transformation goals will be supported by participating in Nedbank culture building initiatives, including CSI.

    Stakeholders will be challenged to achieve excellence.

    An ethical culture will be reinforced.

    Nedbank's vision and values will be understood and embraced, leading by example.

    • Bachelor of Commerce: Accounting / Risk Management / Auditing, Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees are required.
    • Postgraduate Qualification: Compliance / Risk Management / Auditing / Accounting is preferred.
    • Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA) certification is preferred, not essential.
    • 3-5 years of experience in a compliance/risk/governance/auditing role is required.
    • Change management, Cluster specific operations, Compliance reporting, Compliance monitoring / auditing, Governance, Risk and Controls, Relevant regulatory knowledge, Relevant software and systems knowledge, Reputational risk management, Risk management process and frameworks, Stakeholder management are required.
    • Decision Making, Influencing, Building Trusting Relationships, Managing Work, Execution, Quality Orientation, Stress Tolerance, Emotional Intelligence, Communication, Assertiveness, Team Player are required behavioural competencies.
