Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Cathodic Protection Technician located in Roodepoort.

The Cathodic Protection Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and quality control of cathodic protection systems, ensuring the full functionality of client's equipment.


Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Cathodic Protection systems and technologies
Good technical knowledge of corrosion control and prevention, cathodic protection techniques, and corrosion monitoring tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret design plans and specification documents
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong team player with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and self-directed
Management and responsibility of his/her duties, including discipline.
Planning and project management is key to the CP technician's role.
Health and safety requirements to be maintained.
Document, photograph, & report all site activity, installations, work hours, mileage & financial transactions for respective job.
Liaison with installers, other site supervisors, customers, suppliers as required.
Quality assurance and control.

You are required to record and carry out the quality control system put in place as per the project requirement.

Supervising & control of loading, unloading, packing and delivery of equipment.
Ensure delivery of equipment out to site is in working order as it left the factory.
The layout and fitting out of equipment, trunking, terminals, conduit, earthing, etc., in panels, kiosks, bunkers, racks, etc. or on systems, or on site, or as required.
The location and fitting of labels as required.
Ensure attendance at client specific inductions when working on site, and follow client site rules and regulations.
The preparation, routing, ferruling and terminating of wires in accordance with drawing requirements.
The point to point checking and testing of the equipment and wiring, and recording of results as required.
The cleaning and protection of the work panels, cabinets, equipment, components.
Ensuring the suitability and correctness of tools and test equipment.
Withdrawal of correct materials from stores.

Each Job/Site requires a set of documentation that is to be created by you to record and keep a history of the installation activity.

A firm grip on materials needed for installation process is to be well established to avoid any delay in the installation process caused by any supply delays.

Any item short supplied is to be identified early and noted so that supply can be arranged on a timeous basis and installation can be organised and as efficient as possible.

Record all materials and installed items used on site. (Qty, Meters, etc.)
Fault finding may be required on Cathtect engineering products as well as other electrical devices. These Faults need to be correctly located and corrected to an approved standard.
You are required to conduct official testing procedures on the equipment manufactured.

These tests will be conducted on all complete products to ensure performance standards are met and that no technical defects exist or are overlooked before handover to customer.

It may be required of you to travel to site locations outside of the Cathtect premises to conduct maintenance and to rectify any on site electrical faults or problems.

You are required to take GPS locations and photos of the installations done out at site.

These photos will comprise of excavations, Thermit or stud welding, Coating repairs, Test post installations, Cathtect bunker installations, Durasafe bunker installations, Rocla Enclosure installations, Cable runs and joints, Zinc Ribbon installation and joints, TRU installations, Ground bed installations.

You are required to ensure the company vehicle remains clean, neat and well maintained at all times. You are further responsible for the daily completion of mileage and inspection sheets and to report any incidents. You are required to ensure company vehicles are serviced within the required intervals as set by the vehicle manufactu
