    ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER - SA Projects

    Travel: Local / Regional / National / International Projects

    Industry: Large / Heavy Industry Experience

    We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team based in SA Projects.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Electrical system modelling, protection design, and testing;
    • System commissioning and bill of quantities preparation;
    • Auto CAD drawings creation;
    • Ensuring all projects adhere to South African national standards and customer requirements;

    In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also be expected to:

    • Compile Site Acceptance Test plans and commissioning plans;
    • Assist technical teams with their execution;
    • Contribute to the company's strategic planning and customer base development;
    • Budgeting, resource management, planning, scope definition, implementation, and general coordination of projects;
    • Report directly to the Senior Electrical System Engineer.

    This is a challenging Engineering position that requires project execution in line with the company's strategy.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Engineering, planning, leading, organising, and controlling electrical system modelling, load flows, fault studies, grading studies, and designs;
    • Standardization and good engineering practices application;
    • Designs, specifications, project supervision, and management of small to medium projects;
    • Whole project life cycle management, including design, procurement, budgeting, supervision, testing, and commissioning;
    • Specifying, designing, programming, and commissioning electrical equipment;
    • Developing bills of materials/quantities for engineering services and supporting tendering processes;
    • Coordinating individual project resources plans and supporting engineering and installation services teams;
    • Technical problem solving, fault finding, periodic standby duties;
    • Working on protection, automation, instrumentation, and control equipment;
    • Sales budgets and expenses maintenance, ensuring efficient and profitable business units;
    • Development and mentoring of Engineers, Technicians, and Trainees;
    • Development of design standardisation, products, services, commissioning, and maintenance activities.

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • A B Eng Electrical Heavy Current qualification;
    • 3-6 years of experience in a large/heavy industry environment;
    • Good exposure within an industrial environment and associated electrical reticulation, protection, and other electrical machinery;
    • A high level of technical competence and understanding of such equipment;
    • A driver's license;
    • A passport (willing to travel regionally and abroad);
    • Traceable references and a clear criminal record.
