We are looking for a Quality Control Technician in the Verulam area in Durban.


Requirements:


  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma: Analytical Chemistry
  • FMCG / Manufacturing industry experience (Essential)
  • Proven ability to maintain Quality standards and QMS

Job Summary:


The role of the Quality Control Technician is to implement and maintain quality standards as set out by the company.

Ensure that production processes and products meet the required quality specifications at all times. Conduct scheduled routine tests for all products being manufactured on the production line. Perform lab/quality tests/checks on raw materials and final products before being dispatched.

Investigate non-conformances on all in-process, and final products whilst reporting imperfections and out of specification results to Site Manager or Quality Manager.

Maintain the upkeep of the lab and improve standards regularly.


Responsibilities:

Quality Control of Incoming Raw Materials and final products

  • All fats and oils received are analyzed for moisture, (ffa and iodine values when required)
  • Nonroutine raw materials analyzed on requirements.
  • Goods receiving checklist done on all items received.
  • Final product checked thoroughly for conformance and checklist completed before being dispatche
Hot/cold process manufacturing of soap

  • Pan soap tested in different intervals for moisture and final pan tested for conforming moisture, TFM and physical quality checks done.
In-process products (Green Bar for naked bar and packaged soap)

  • Interval times quality checks done on line for conforming moisture, TFM and bar weights.
  • Packaging checked for correct man/exp dates, properly sealed products, outer packaging with correct barcodes checked and cartons with correct batch codes used
In-process analysis (Beauty Bar)

  • Soap noodles analyzed for moisture and TFM
  • Quality checks on bars for moisture, TFM, correct colour used, weights and cracking test of soap done.
  • Packaging checked for correct bb dates and outer cases checked for correct packaging and barcodes
Candle Plant quality checks

  • Hourly checks on weights of candles
  • Moisture analysis on candles, pellets and rework done
  • Slip melting point done when required
  • Burn time of candle on lines checked daily
  • Quality on packaging checked
Other

  • All nonconformances reported to site manager and indicated on daily quality report sheet
  • All quality analysis and observations recorded on a daily consolidated report
  • All quality documents filed systematically
  • Creation and implementation of QMS documentation, SOP's, other required documentation
  • Daily calibration of lab equipment and upkeep of lab
