    Position Description:

    As an Account Manager at Elanco, your primary responsibility will encompass the development and implementation of comprehensive sales strategies aimed at engaging our channel partners and end customers. Your role will revolve around the promotion of our products, optimizing sales processes, and cultivating robust partnerships with key industry stakeholders. This role is instrumental in strengthening brand visibility, driving sales growth, and fostering seamless collaboration between our company and our trade partners.

    The Account Manager in alignment with the Head of Sales for Ruminants, will also carry the responsibility of managing the profitability of accounts through the effective use of discounts and rebates. Simultaneously, you will work towards expanding the product mix, thereby ensuring the sustainability of our business operations while consistently achieving our targets.

    Functions, Duties, Tasks:

  • Market Research: Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitor activities.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather in-field competitor data in a manner which can be effectively utilised.
  • Trade Promotion: Plan, develop, and implement trade promotion programs and campaigns aimed at increasing product visibility and sales within the trade channel, designed to achieve or exceed sales target, with due regard to Gross to Net impact.
  • Channel Development: Identify and establish relationships with distributors, retailers, wholesalers, and other trade partners to expand the distribution network.
  • Product Positioning: Ensure product offerings are aligned with market demands and are effectively positioned in the trade channel.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse sales data, market trends, and industry behaviour to make data-driven decisions and adjustments to sales execution strategies.
  • Trade Events: Plan and participate in trade shows, and industry events to showcase product offering and network with key stakeholders.
  • Farmers days: Coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders to conduct farmers days in the responsible territory.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports and updates on trade marketing activities and their impact on sales and market share.
  • Account Management: Achieve sales and product mix targets to ensure profitability is realised.
  • Minimum Qualification (education, experience and/or training, required certifications):

  • Marketing/ Sales diploma or a relevant degree
  • Technical background (Animal Health Industry) with at least 5 years of sales experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial execution and financial concepts, with a proven history of delivering Sales targets.
  • Computer literacy is essential (Word, excel, power point, e-mail program)
  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite.
  • Fluency in Afrikaans is preferable.
  • Valid South African driver's license for a motor vehicle.
