Main Function:

Operate, maintain, repair and optimize plant and associated equipment to ensure plant availability, cost, safety and product quality.


Quality Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide support to the day shift teams during operations.
• Where requested assist as a functional expert in problem solving eg 10 step and why why.
• Carry out repairs on plant equipment as required
• Take part in maintenance planning meetings, scheduling of work, clarifying work required and carrying out maintenance
• Close off safety and food safety work orders in their areas in line with the safety first value of the site
• Ensure all maintenance tasks are carried out to maximise plant availability and
• Reporting and administration
• Ensure the various reports and administration tasks are carried out to support engineering and production
• Must have the physical abilities to carry out the role within a plant and work shifts
• Attend handover meeting with the millng operators at operator workstations to review breakdowns, planned maintenance and problem solving daily.

Key Performance Areas:

• Be informed what products will be milled for the day with the Shift Miller
• Inspect working action of all machinery, conditioning, and milling including sifters and airlocks as per the weekly maintenance schedules plan
• Opening up of roll stands, plant sifters and other milling machinery, as part of cleaning, inspectios,fumigation preparation, general housekeeping
• Mill hygiene and sanitation removal of spillages, choke bags Ensure all floors are clear of chokes and neat for next Shift.
• Perform all reasonable duties assigned by the Miller, based on outputs from time losses, 10 step projects and shift handover.
• Management of and reporting of out of control situations, e.g. budget, safety, quality, manpower shortages, industrial relation etc.
• Implementation of corrective actions where nonconformities were found.
• Attend weekly problem solving meeting with the plant manager
• Achieve measure utilization target
• The management of health and safety, production efficiency, quality, stock management and demand.
• Support production teams with the execution of 5S and autonomous maintenance duties.

Minimum qualifications/competencies/training/experience required by the position:Experience and Qualifications**- NTC3, with matric maths and science

• Fitter Trade Tested
• Function ± 5 years experience
• Industry ± 1 year experience
• Analytical skills
• Problem solving
• High numeracy skills
