Main job purpose
- To strategically analyse procurement activity across the Group and drive procurement management and control with the aim to drive value, savings, minimise risk and ensure continuity of supply.
Main Objective
- To lead category, spend analysis and full value procurement through cross functional teams across the Group.
- Drive and implement commodity strategies and negotiate Group contracts and SLA's in the most cost effective manner.
- Reduce the Group's Procurement spend on a consistent basis through continuous improvement and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives.
- To ensure effective management of all imports across the Group, aligned strategically and commercially with best practice as well as SARS compliance.
- To manage risk effectively by ensuring continuity of supply.
- To provide support to Group initiatives on supply chain and logistics optimisation.
- Drive to meet procurement BBBEE legislative targets.
- Drive and optimise the purchasing processes, inventory management, supplier management within the divisions to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness as well as supplier reliability.
- To enhance and ensure that Procurement policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
- Provide proactive Procure to Pay support and guidance to all PG Group Divisions to ensure adherence to best practice and corporate governance.
- To ensure that staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and monitored through the talent management and IDP process.
Critical job requirements
- Grade 1
- Purchasing Management / Logistics or Supply Chain Degree (B-Tech)
- Minimum 10 years Procurement experience gained in a large organisation focused on procurement sourcing initiatives
- Minimum 5 to 7 years procurement management experience
- Understanding of and experience within Imports & SARS Audit requirements
