    National Circular Packaging and Sustainability Sourcing Manager

    • Location: Durban
    • Type: Permanent

    A position has become available for a National Circular Packaging and Sustainability Sourcing Manager to lead the company's transition towards a more circular economy.

    Main Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing circular packaging systems, ensuring that our products are sourced ethically and with minimal environmental impact. This includes working closely with suppliers to promote sustainable regenerative practices and collaborating with industry stakeholders to drive the transition towards a circular economy in packaging and food production.

    Key Performance Areas:

    1. Circular Packaging Solutions:
      • Develop and manage circular systems to create awareness and change within the company by educating and influencing stakeholders on circular thinking.
      • Align the business with circular economy practices and their social, environmental, and commercial implications.
    2. Sustainable Sourcing of Products and Ingredients:
      • Partner with suppliers to drive regenerative agriculture and address challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss.
      • Develop and implement strategies for the sustainable procurement of forest risk commodities and seafood.
    3. Develop and Review Sustainability Policies:
      • Track progress against targets set out in sustainability policies.
    4. Engage with Stakeholders:
      • Collaborate with government, industry bodies, NGOs, retailers, suppliers, and other stakeholders on circular packaging and sustainability sourcing practices.
    5. Stay Up-to-Date with Regulatory Updates:
      • Communicate relevant environmental regulatory updates to functional teams and ensure compliance.

      6. Requirements

      • Degree/Diploma in Environmental Science, Circular Economy, or Sustainability.
      • 5 years' experience in FMCG.
      • 3 Years' experience in a management role.

      The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. They should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strategic relationships and influence stakeholders.
