Assistant Accountant - Durbanville, South Africa - Cenfri
Description
Cenfri is looking for a motivated individual with excellent numerical and analytical skills to join our Finance team to enhance the support we provide to the businesses in South Africa and Rwanda.
This individual should have sound financial administration experience as well as an excellent understanding of basic accounting principles.The role requires exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, intermediate MS Excel, proficient Pastel (or similar accounting package) skills and a methodical approach to the completion of tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Capturing and managing financial transactions (SA & Rwanda)
- Cashbook processing of several bank accounts, including CFC accounts, and credit card statements, petty cash (incl foreign petty cash) and expense claims
- Summarising costs and preparing relevant financial summaries
- Capturing and adjusting journals
- Liaising with project managers for allocations for funder reporting
- Managing expense claims in ZAR and foreign currencies for approval and payment
- Invoicing
- Producing and maintaining customer invoicing and receipts in local and foreign currencies
- Capturing cashbook receipts to customer accounts
- Calculating foreign profit / loss transactions on receipts
- Processing withholding tax on foreign receipts
- Maintaining a monthly invoicing schedule
- Preparing a monthly debtors age analysis
- Reconciliations (SA & Rwanda)
- Preparing monthly reconciliations of the full TB, including GL balance sheet accounts, credit cards and staff expense accounts
- Bank and CFC reconciliations and fund accountability recons
- Preparing the monthly VAT return and VAT reconciliation
- Payroll (SA & Rwanda)
- Preparing the monthly payroll for South Africa and Rwanda salaries
- Updating and maintaining employee information on payroll system
- Preparing monthly payroll journals
- Preparing monthly UIF and PAYE submissions and quarterly PAYE reconciliations
- Assisting with leave administration on ESS platform
- Preparing the annual WCA submission
- Assisting staff with payroll queries
- Maintaining the fixed asset schedule and preparing the monthly depreciation journal
- Managing the funder receipts schedules
Requirements:
- Relevant financial qualification
- Over 2 years' experience in an assistant accountant/ similar role
- Experience on accounting software packages
- Training on Pastel Accounting
- Pastel Accounting and/or Payroll experience would be advantageous
- Intermediate MS Excel experience
- Solid numerical ability
