Lead and supervise a team of maintenance assistants, providing guidance, training, and support.
Continuously develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce machine breakdowns and downtime.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on extrusion machines and associated equipment.
Maintain a spare parts inventory and ensure the availability of critical components.
Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production.
Collaborate with the production team to plan and execute maintenance tasks during scheduled downtime.
Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Conduct regular inspections and assessments of equipment to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
Keep detailed maintenance records, including work orders, equipment history, and maintenance reports.
Participate in the procurement of new equipment, providing input on maintenance and reliability considerations.

Qualifications:

Matric Certificate plus Technical / Trade school certification.
Mechanical Fitter and Turner / Fitter / Fitter with Wireman's Licence
Minimum of 6 years of experience in maintenance, with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Knowledge of plastic extrusion machinery is highly desirable.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in an industrial setting.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work in a high-pressured production environment, including overtime and weekend work as and when required.
High work ethic and high work standard.
