INVENTORY PLANNER

DURBAN


The purpose of the position is to convert customer demand into an achievable production plan, taking into consideration available manufacturing capacity and national stock holding requirements.


Key performance areas:


SHERQ:


  • Ensure compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and adhere to all safety requirements, policies and procedures of the company.
  • Wear the correct Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) relevant for the workplace and adhere to all the relevant policies and regulations.

Demand Review:


  • Generate historical reports to assist the commercial team in forecasting on a monthly basis.
  • Facilitate the demand review with the relevant commercial team to ensure improved forecast accuracy.
  • Review previous months' forecast accuracy to ensure continues improvement.

Supply Review:


  • Generate the proposed production schedule and present to the production team.
  • Indicate constraints, priorities and product sequences required to achieve both efficient production and customer satisfaction.
  • Incorporate all maintenance plans in the proposed production schedule.
  • Inform the commercial team of any potential supply challenges to enable effective communication with the all customers.
  • Provide plant management with a 3month stock holding view based on the supply review.

Production Planning:


  • Create a weekly production plan based on demand and supply constraints.
  • Lead the daily/weekly production planning meeting, effect changes on the plan as agreed and publish the weekly plan to the plant.
  • Open the relevant works orders on Syspro, ensuring work centre, QTY and dates are correct.
  • Publish the adherence to plan on a daily basis and supply to all relevant teams
  • Highlight nonadherence where applicable.
  • Discuss and agree with all relevant managers before the production plan is changed
  • Close all completed works orders on a weekly basis, generate the relevant report to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure all planned runs are economical and best use of resources to prevent over stock on both finished goods and raw material.

Master data management:


  • Create new item codes by completing the relevant template based on the product specification form submitted by the Chief Chemist/Operations Director.
  • Review and correct all relevant work centres and run rates on Syspro.
  • Complete all planning calendars with shift and maintenance hours when required.
  • Ensure only valid item codes are active at any given time.

Reporting:


  • Supply the logistics manager with the relevant S&OP information to be included in the management report, include past month performance as well as 6 month forecast on Finished Goods.
  • Monitor adherence to plan and escalate failure to adhere to Operations Director.
  • Prepare and distribute relevant capacity report and indicate all available capacity and opportunities to the plant management team.
  • Check the daily OEE report in terms of planned hours and ensure that information contained in the report is in accordance with the production plan published.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Matric
  • Diploma in Supply Chain Management
years' experience in an inventory planning role specifically in a FMCG or manufacturing environment.


Job Related Knowledge

  • Product (chemical) knowledge (advantageous)
  • ERP planning knowledge
  • Supply Chain knowledge
  • Warehousing and despatch knowledge
  • Manufacturing processes knowledge (advantageous)
  • Stock control knowledge
  • Knowledge on people management
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) knowledge will be beneficial to ensure compliance with company safety requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Able and willing to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to comply with OHSA requirements.

Computer Literacy

  • Syspro essential.
  • Advance knowledge on Excel is essential to the position.
  • Intermediate knowledge on Word and Outlook will be beneficial.
