Purpose of the Job:


  • To manage and control production departments in accordance with company goals, budgets, targets and KPI's. This position is accountable to senior management for the performance of the said Department in carrying out and improving all the KPI's determined by the divisional Manager/ Director

Responsibilities

  • Manage employees in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Train and develop employees to ensure that skills and knowledge meet production requirements.
  • Train employees in all company health, safety, and environment procedures.
  • Ensure that products are manufactured in accordance with technical and quality specifications.
  • Control expenses in the department.
  • Provide and formulate information for annual budgets.
  • Participate in problem solving with Technical, Quality and Human Resources.
  • Participate in the introduction of new product and the commissioning of new equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Efficient control in the department of all resources.
  • Meet production targets and deadlines. (Units per Man Hour)
  • Receive and take corrective action on reports received on issues such as labour and losses, wastage, scrap etc.
  • Liaise with Planning regarding schedule changes.
  • Liaise with the Maintenance department on maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain daily production records.
  • Ensure that stock take data is accurate.
  • Ensure that the required levels of discipline are maintained within the plant and, where these are transgressed, that the necessary disciplinary action is taken in accordance with company policy.
  • Carry out staff appraisals on subordinates.
