    Job Description

    The role of a Clearing and Settlement Specialist at JSE Limited is to ensure the smooth execution and settlement of transactions in centrally cleared instruments. This involves monitoring and assisting members with the interpretation of regulation, policies, and procedures to guarantee that clearing and settlements take place in alignment with the JSE Clear rules and regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Apply cost-effectiveness principles to deliver results and contribute to achieving JSE Clear financial targets
    • Provide input into the development of a post-trade service for JSE Clear based on an integrated vision for the organization
    • Examine materials, products, or work outputs for quality, accuracy, and completeness, and respond quickly to correct quality issues

    Stakeholder Relationship Management

    • Assist in clearing and settlement queries within the Derivatives Operations team
    • Interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders, providing feedback and information regarding clearing and settlement of centrally cleared transactions
    • Maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders, demonstrating informed consideration of issues to uphold the regulatory reputation of JSE Clear
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance system efficiency and improve productivity
    • Develop and sustain relationships with service providers to facilitate effective procurement processes

    Process Management

    • Manage own delivery against agreed timelines, identifying obstacles and taking appropriate action to ensure deadlines are met
    • Identify obstacles and major challenges through continuous evaluation of processes and standards, ensuring operational alignment with strategic priorities
    • Report daily on clearing and settlement transactions to identify and resolve issues, ensuring objectives are met
    • Maintain a documentation management system for reference on decisions made
    • Suggest process changes to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in achieving JSE Clear goals
    • Communicate clearing and settlement information to members, providing correct interpretation of rules and regulations
    • Analyze and research queries related to clearing and settlements, finding solutions and escalating unresolved issues to senior management
    • Manage derivatives clearing and settlement obligations of trading and clearing members to protect JSE Clear credibility
    • Implement procedures to facilitate clearing and settlement of all transactions in accordance with rules and directives
    • Advise trading and clearing members of potential issues impacting clearing and settlement, proactively acting to ensure clearance and settlement
    • Participate in testing of releases and enhancements on clearing solutions

    • Improve personal capability and professional growth in line with JSE Clear objectives, discussing development needs with management
    • Contribute to teamwork, sharing knowledge freely, and visibly living JSE values to achieve divisional objectives
    • Manage self in terms of development, delivery, and act as a self-starter

    Transformation and Innovation Contribution

    • Identify, share, and implement value-added improvement/innovative ideas and solutions contributing to JSE Clear results
    • Grade 12 qualification required
    • Certificate/Diploma in Financial Markets preferred
