Currently we are seeking an experienced and passionate Supply Chain Director to provide strategic direction for the end-to-end supply chain function within the RCL Foods Group ensuring alignment to the overall business strategy.

The successful incumbent has the flexibility of being based in Durban or Johannesburg.


Duties & Responsibilities:


Strategic Initiative-
Develop and implement strategy/structure/systems in support of continuity and delivering on operational and strategic objectives in areas of, planning, customer service, manufacturing, and engineering

Responsible for best practice design, implementation and evaluation of all supply chain activities

Evaluate organisation's supply chain performance against projected costs and timelines

Identify, build, and nurture trust and collaborative relationships with key partners and stakeholders


Financial Performance & Management-
Oversee the setting of the budget (CAPEX and OPEX) for the area of responsibility and align to the overall budget for maintenance and growth

Monitor expenses and ensure adherence of expenditure is within the approved budget

Design and delivery of best-in-class continuous improvement programs


Supply Chain Management-
Determine the structure required to execute within the determined supply chain strategic framework

Build a cohesive and effective team, working well within and cross-functionally in the business units

Responsible for demand planning forecasts to enable the supply chain planning process to function optimally and to provide consolidated information for forecasting across the organisation


Oversee the supply planning process around production, warehousing, logistics and distribution of goods to customer across the organisation and ensure maximum efficiency and performance.

Oversee implementation of consistent distribution planning processes across the business units to streamline operations, enhance efficiencies and optimise cost

Responsible for development and deployment of effective Manufacturing strategies across the group and capability building strategies across the entire supply chain function

Set measures for performance, efficiencies, waste management etc within manufacturing for the business

Contribute directly to the profitability of the organisation by maximising the efficiency of distribution


Engineering Project Management-
Oversee the implementation of engineering projects around sustainability, technology, costing, and maintenance of assets for the group


People Management-
Provide leadership to the team, defining objectives to be achieved by the department.

Manage performance of direct reports, ensuring agreement of annual goals, measuring performance against agreed goals, and addressing non-performance issues.

Manage the working environment and ensure that it contributes to improving staff morale and productivity


Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Risk Governance and Compliance-
Ensure adherence to and meet all relevant safety targets and measurements within area of responsibility. Monitor any trends in safety compliance issues and proactively address issues

Actively address all customer concerns and monitor any trending for consistent improvement efforts

Identify Supply Chain risks and ensure implementation of control to mitigate risk

Lead compliance of all Environmental, Health and Safety, regulatory statutes, food safety and quality systems.


Customer Service Excellence-
Responsible for managing the relationship between the organisation and key customers in respect of delivery and measures around value, processing and all processes related to supply chain


Minimum Requirements:

Degree qualification in Engineering

years' experience in Supply Chain functions (Procurement, Manufacturing, Planning, Customer Service & Logistics) in and FMCG environment

10 years' experience in a senior leadership position

Knowledge and experience in continuous improvement and capability development and driving sustainability.
