    Description

    The head office is based in Brackenfell, South Africa. The vacant Group financial accountant position will report to the CFO or Group Financial Manager but will transition into a financial manager position over time. The client's group financial team is a small team with a flat reporting structure.

    Key responsibilities:

    The Group financial accountant will be responsible for month-end accounting and reporting processes, interim/year-end closing and reporting aspects, year-end audit, budgeting process and other financial-related projects which could change from time to time. The detailed responsibilities include the following:

    Month End

    • Preparing loan account reconciliations and product development cost calculations.
    • Review of subsidiaries' management accounts.
    • Tax calculations.
    • Preparing group consolidated management accounts.

    Year-end Audit

    • Management of the year-end external audit requirements/deliverables.
    • Ensure that financial transactions in the group are recorded in compliance with IFRS.
    • Assist group companies with technical accounting transactions and year-end reporting packs.
    • Review inter-group transactions and loan accounts.
    • Overseeing the reporting by group companies (local and foreign) and performing group consolidations.
    • Tax calculations.
    • Group financial reporting packs for submission to a listed company.
    • Preparation of group companies' annual financial statements.

    Reporting

    • Compiling of management information.
    • Drafting of reports for the Finance and risk committee and board of directors.

    Other

    • Tax compliance responsibilities.
    • Compile group consolidated budgets and budget reporting pack.
    • Compile Group consolidated cash flow forecast.
    • Assistance/involvement with mergers and acquisitions.
    • Assist CFO and CEO with presentations to stakeholders.

    Minimum requirements:

    • CA(SA) qualification.
    • 3 years post-article experience.
    • AFS (full IFRS) / tax/budgeting experience.
    • Group accounting/consolidation experience.
    • Management accounting experience.
    • Strong Excel skills.
    • Problem-solving skills / can work independently.
