    Description

    Job Title: Oncology Pharmacist

    Medipost Pharmacy is seeking an experienced Oncology Pharmacist to join our team for Funded Production.

    The successful candidate will report directly to the Oncology Manager.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide proper patient care in accordance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) regulations.
    • Ensure mailbox management compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Urgent requirements.
    • Capture new or repeat prescriptions accurately, including oncology, acute, chronic, or private medication.
    • Conduct blind checking of claimed prescriptions and patient medication templates, minimizing script rejections.
    • Arrange and follow up on authorizations, providing relevant feedback to ensure SLA compliance.
    • Handle paper claims submission and follow up on payments as required.
    • Respond professionally to email messages, incoming calls, or inquiries from patients, SPNs, and management.
    • Participate in clinical discussions with patients and healthcare professionals or SPNs.
    • Assist with tracking queries and pre-alerting deliveries.
    • Manage credit returns by logging pick-ups and following up on returns and credits.
    • Maintain stock care and stock management, including short-dated stock, dormant stock, high-value stock items, and assist with bi-annual stock takes.
    • Attend to stat 30, stat 32, and stat 33 stock rejections.
    • Manage MML/MPIR compliance where applicable.
    • Handle and validate Section 21 and Patient Assisted Programs (PAF) orders as required.
    • Order per-patient items for high-value or low-usage items.
    • Claim all Gipap/Tipap scripts.
    • Claim INV's received.
    • Attend to OUT OF WIP notifications.
    • Handle rejections if created by user.
    • Support administrators and pharmacist assistants in the cluster as needed.
    • Attend SOP training and revision training to maintain Company Policies, Procedures, and SOPs.
    • Engage with pharmacist assistants (clinical inquiries, training, and coaching).

    Operational Requirements:

    • Complete daily work according to level requirement.
    • Maintain accuracy during blind checking.
    • Attend to action diaries.
    • Comply with SLA requirements.
    • Achieve MML adherence.
    • Respond to calls and emails professionally, providing accurate information in a timely manner.
    • Follow up and finalize queries appropriately.
    • Meet customer service and internal process compliance (Quality Assurance) standards.
    • Intervene in IR matters (QA, IPC, Stock returns log, etc.).
    • Focus on minimizing errors and customer-related complaints.
    • Adhere to SOPs.
    • Embody productive and available behavior according to contract hours.
    • Manage leave through ESS according to company policies and requirements.
    • Comply with eco-time procedures, completing daily clocking tasks according to company policies.
    • Utilize TWB options correctly, notifying managers and completing ESS processes.
    • Maintain housekeeping compliance at % as per company expectations during quarterly audits.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Grade 12

    Experience:

    Minimum 2 years as a pharmacist, including internship and community service.

    Must be registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

    Demonstrate sound knowledge of the Pharmacy Act.

    Training Required:

    Medipost APP system training, SLA training, company policies and procedures, computer literacy, MHRS online authorization system, ESS, etc.

    Competencies:

    Verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, patience, empathy, conflict resolution, customer service orientation, accuracy, data capturing skills, interpersonal skills, relationship building skills, adaptability, effective time management, detail-oriented.

    Specific Requirements / Other Important Information:

    Focused and responsible individual with a sense of urgency for this role.

    Availability to assist with creating or updating processes to improve efficiency.

    Willingness to attend inter-departmental training sessions.

    Ability to provide inter-departmental assistance when needed (WIC/order processing/call center/production).

    Willingness to work overtime if required by manager.

    Completing compulsory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities and involvement as a tutor.

    Group pharmacist-initiated activities, mentoring, and training of pharmacist assistants.
