Vacancy: Electrical Maintenance Artisan X2

Purpose of the Job


The purpose of this role is to perform inspections, maintenance, installations, restoration, and repairs of production equipment within a train manufacturing environment.

The position reports to the Senior Maintenance Technician.


Key responsibilities include the following:


  • Performs electrical isolations and applies for permit to work
  • Understands and puts into practice all codes, standards, and procedures for safe work
  • Carries out electrical component inspections and reports on performance issues
  • Document repair and inspection activities to ensure accurate record keeping
  • Use correct tools to carry out planned preventative maintenance.
  • Supervises electrical apprentices and performs planned job observations
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed to set quality standards without rework or abnormal overtime
  • Works to ensure achievement of schedule compliance targets
  • Adhere to health and safety standards, and ensure good housekeeping in and around the plant and workshop
  • Take part in root cause analysis and suggest ways of improving equipment and processes

  • Matric or N3 with Maths and Science
  • Electrical Trade Test (Electrician).
  • 3 years' experience on the maintenance of resistance (spot) welders
  • Knowledge of drives, electropneumatics, and automated systems
  • Knowledge of PLCs will be an advantage
  • In depth knowledge of maintenance practices
  • Awareness of maintenance standards and procedures
  • Exemplary Faultfinding techniques
