Introduction

Role Purpose


This role will be responsible for the building and implementation of product models for the purposes of modelling product values and fund build-ups, developing tools to facilitate excellent automated risk management, as well as managing the Product Modelling team, consisting of actuarial analysts and Java developers.

The role offers exposure to an extensive range of historical and current life insurance and savings products while developing actuarial judgement in balancing the needs of various stakeholders.


Requirements:


  • A graduate degree in Actuarial Science or related degree
  • Newly or nearly qualified Actuary
  • A minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of actuarial analysts and Java developers
  • Manage workflow and set priorities for the team
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of fellow team members' work
  • Provide guidance to team members
  • Draft and review the required product and calculation specifications
Improve tools and processes that monitor the accuracy of policy values

  • Specify, build and maintain models of the business
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure the accurate and efficient implementation of your models
  • Investigate, quantify and explain any deviations and advise on corrective measures
  • Provide information on reserve requirements for any corrective measures identified
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders regarding implementation of tools
  • Provide feedback to multiple stakeholders
  • Ensure that all projects to be implemented adhere to audit and risk management requirements

Competencies

  • Excellent proficiency in SQL and VBA
  • Previous management experience advantageous
  • Modelling experience
