REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have 3 years + experience as a Legal Secretary (3 years' + previous working experience in a legal environment will be advantageous)
  • A Relevant 3 years' legal qualification will be advantageous
  • Must be fluent in English and isiXhosa (able to speak, read and write competently)
  • Proficiency in English and legal terminology in rules of Court (High Court and Magistrate Court)
  • Ability to develop legal documents (High Court, Magistrate Court, Labour Court and CCMA)
  • Strong typing skills, 7090 words per minute (accuracy and speed)
  • Knowledge of MS Word, MS Office and other legal technology software
  • Must be a team player and have strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication
  • Display outstanding time management and the ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of litigation management and software systems (Dictaphone typing essential)
  • Ability to work independently

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Ability to type professional documents
  • Ability to receive and execute instructions from the professional staff
  • Must be able to travel to and report at other company branches when required
  • Answering phone calls and attend to all reception matters
  • Scheduling client appointments
  • Receive briefs
  • Organising and maintaining all legal documents kept on site
  • Responsible for administrative functionalities and maintain office running
  • Assisting during consultations (as and when requested)
