Sales Operations Manager(Online and Admissions)

Varsity College is an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE). The IIE enjoys the reputation of being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa, and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to provide higher education qualifications accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).


The IIE's Varsity College, has a vacancy for an Admissions Officer. NB. This position may be based at our National Office in either Cape Town, Waterfall (Midrand) or Durban North.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Management of Student Admissions

  • Approval of international, conditional and other South African admissions as agreed with the IIE Office of the Registrar (IIE OOR), including tracking and auditing of these admissions using relevant SAM reports.
  • Approval and auditing of one module outstanding conditional admissions for The IIE's Varsity College.
  • Tracking of international students to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).

Management of the Admissions Process for the Brand

  • Policy and procedure review with the IIE Office of the Registrar.
  • Developing and updating of Varsity College admission procedure documents.
  • Compilation and maintenance of IIE's Varsity College fact sheets.
  • Tracking IIE qualifications on The IIE's Varsity College website and communicating any errors or omissions to the media office for correction.
  • Supporting The IIE Office of the Registrar with replies to student complaints.
  • Tracking of mature age admissions for The IIE's Varsity College.

Campus Support

  • Training of marketing teams on admissions.
  • Training of Admission Centre Coordinators prior to registration.
  • Pulse campus visits, review of site evidence re compliance to the admission policies and drafting of Pulse Reports.

  • Excellent communication skills particularly in English, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate to a range of audiences in a way that communication is clear, concise, specific and accurate and accessible to the target audience.
  • Interpersonal skills characterised by tact and diplomacy and an ongoing ability to participate effectively in a team that is spread across the country.
  • Capacity to get others to follow by example and the ability to manage matrix management and communication structures.
  • High delivery ability, demonstrated capacity to organise own work and work against tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work constructively as part of a team, display initiative and work strategically and independently with limited supervision.
  • Proven record of managing projects to a successful conclusion.
  • Able to acquire new skills to keep up with new technologies and or new knowledge areas within relevant disciplines.

Minimum Education Requirements:


  • Minimum of Advanced Diploma or Bachelors Degree (NQF Level 7). Postgraduate qualification advantageous.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:


  • At least 3 years academic administrative experience in the division of the Registrar or governance (corporate, education or legal) sector.
