- Inspect, repair, and maintain assets, equipment, and surrounding infrastructure to minimize adverse impact on production.
- Daily liaison with relevant plant personnel at different levels regarding breakdowns, spares, and equipment.
- Perform hands-on maintenance support during breakdowns and shutdowns.
- Pro-active approach and perform preventative maintenance on production equipment.
- Conduct technical evaluations (testing) of equipment.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act and comply with company-specific SHE policies and procedures.
- Ensure and maintain a healthy environment, safe operations, and practices.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations.
- Assist with technical investigations and RCFA's.
- Identification of defects, including safety and reporting to Supervisor.
- Conduct operations and support to CO Gen plant.
- Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Supervisor.
- Grade 12 Mathematics & Physical Science with a minimum E symbol or Technical N2 Mathematics & Science with a minimum E symbol.
- Minimum of a N2 Qualification with the following subjects: Electrical Trade Theory, Fitting & Machining Trade Theory, Electronics, and/or Engineering drawings.
- Certified Trade Test Qualification.
- Valid code 08 (Code B) driver's license.
- 2 Years Post Trade Test experience and a sound knowledge of and experience in heavy industry environment.

Job Summary
This position will provide support to the Smelter plant, which includes the CO Generation plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for first-line mechanical and electrical duties to improve plant reliability, increase equipment performance, and minimize production downtime from unplanned equipment stoppages. The role will require day and night shift work, as well as overtime and standby work as needed.
