Job Description

Medipost Pharmacy is seeking a skilled Cluster Pharmacist to join the Special Meds, Order Processing Department team.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure proper patient care in accordance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) regulations.

Key Tasks

1. Attend training sessions on pharmacy acts and GPP regulations.
2. Maintain compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act) regulations.
3. Capture prescriptions accurately, including acute and chronic medication as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
4. Conduct blind checks of prescriptions completed by pharmacist assistants according to SOP.
5. Train pharmacist assistants on SOPs, policies, clinical education, and patient care best practices.
6. Engage in clinical discussions and inquiries with patients, healthcare professionals, or Service Providers Network (SPNs).
7. Resolve rejections and prioritize adding scripts to the Work-In-Progress (WIP) list.
8. Attend to cluster and personal action diaries.
9. Comply with Service Level Agreements (SLA) requirements, including completing mailbox profiles and action diaries within stipulated timelines.
10. Respond professionally to email messages or inquiries within 2 hours.
11. Address OUT OF WIP notifications.
12. Manage stock levels, including understanding cold chain processes, expiry dates, and stock returns.
13. Ensure accurate reporting to external service providers as needed.
14. Place stock orders with the order department for items out of stock.
15. HANDLE Section 21 items correctly regarding ordering and claiming.
16. Send medication/appliances quotes to external parties using the correct format.

• Complete daily allocated work according to requirements.

Customer Service and Internal Process Compliance (Quality Assurance)

• Foster a culture of minimizing errors and customer-related complaints through Quality Assurance (QA), IPC, and Customer Care logs.
• Maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Productivity and Time Management

• Be available and productive according to contractually stipulated hours.
• ESS: Manage leave in accordance with company policies.
• Eco time compliance: Adhere to daily clocking procedures in accordance with company policy.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of 1 year of experience as a pharmacist.

Licenses and Accreditation

SAPC Registration.

Training Required

Training on company systems, such as the Medipost APP, online authorization system and procedures, ESS, etc.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, patience, empathy, conflict resolution, customer service orientation, accuracy, data capturing skills, interpersonal skills, relationship building skills, ability to work under pressure, adaptability, effective time management, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) and pharmacy acts.

Specific Requirements

Expected output during probation period communicated by line manager.

Understanding of the implications of making errors in a pharmacy environment.

Other Important Information

Willingsness to work overtime when required by management.

Continuous professional development – attending training or forums.

Assistance with stock take if required at least once per year.

Assistance or attendance at training in other departments such as the Walk-in Pharmacy and Production.

Inter-departmental training and assistance as needed.
