    Take on the responsibility to coordinate and supervise the activities of the Coal operation, while providing an excellent service. You will also oversee the technical requirements by providing your Engineering and Leadership expertise. If you are ready to become an Engineering Supervisor in our Coal environment, then we want you.

    As a Diesels Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of diesel equipment used in mining operations. Your primary role will be to ensure the efficient and safe operation of all diesel machinery and equipment, including but not limited to tractors, LHD's, LDV's, buses and trailers. You will work closely with the maintenance team and report directly to the diesels GES.

    More of your responsibilities will include:

    • Ensuring the code of practice and procedures are updated and communicated
    • Ensuring that machinery and equipment perform safely to design capabilities while ensuring environmental compliance
    • Develop and implementing appropriate maintenance systems and monitor feedback received in relation to equipment breakdowns
    • The development of project plans with Engineering Planners while ensuring cost management and carry out the annual budgeting exercise, control overtime worked and expenditure
    • The monitoring and reporting on financial expenditure will be essential
    • Ensure team roles are well defined while supporting and participating in the training and development requirements of each team member. As part of this role you will mentor and coach employees
    • Manage and supervise a team of diesel mechanics, ensuring that all maintenance and repair tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively
    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and plans for diesel equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify any potential issues or areas for improvement
    • Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure the availability of spare parts and consumables for diesel equipment
    • Monitor fuel consumption and implement measures to optimize fuel efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies
    • Provide technical guidance and support to the maintenance team as needed
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance
    Qualifications
    • Matric/ Equivalent
    • Technical N3
    • Diesel Mechanic or Earthmoving Machinery Trade Certificate

    Experience

    • 5 years' experience as an artisan
    • Acting experience as a foreman
    Additional Information
    • Computer literacy
    • In depth understanding of relevant safety, mining legislation including The Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals & Energy Act
    • SHE Risk Management
