    Senior Financial Accountant – Mining Sector

    We are seeking a seasoned finance professional with experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector to join our team as a Senior Financial Accountant.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Lead the development of annual budgets for operations, capital projects, and maintenance, aligning financial goals with operational strategies and market trends.
    • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Conduct profitability and variance analysis across mining operations, providing performance insights to drive cost optimisation and resource allocation. Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring full regulatory and statutory compliance.
    • Tax & Payroll Compliance: Manage company tax obligations (including VAT, PAYE, expat tax, and corporate tax), collaborating with HR on payroll and ensuring accurate statutory deductions and benefits administration.
    • Operational Cost Control & Governance: Implement robust internal controls and lead internal audit processes to mitigate financial risk, maintaining financial data integrity through system audits and accurate record-keeping.
    • ERP & Asset Management: Oversee ERP system functionality and reporting automation, monitoring and tracking company assets, including valuations, insurance, and lifecycle audits.
    • Stakeholder & ESG Reporting: Prepare reports for stakeholders, regulators, and the board, tracking and reporting on financial commitments linked to environmental, social, and community initiatives.
    • Operational Support: Ensure financial policies are aligned with corporate HQ and South African regulations, providing financial guidance and training to operations and site teams, supporting compliance, reporting accuracy, and field expenditure control.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
    • CA(SA), CPA, or MBA (advantageous).
    • Valid Driver's Licence.
    • At least 8 years in a Senior Financial Accountant, Deputy Finance Manager, or similar role.
    • Proven expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and taxation within complex industrial environments.
    • ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
    • Exposure to the mining industry and understanding of project finance and asset valuation (preferred).

    Desired Skills:

    • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
    • Solid understanding of financial risk management, internal controls, and audit procedures.
    • Leadership capabilities with experience in building high-performing finance teams.
    • Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced), Power BI, and ERP platforms.
    • Up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and South African tax laws (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax).
    • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills.
    • Fluency in English (Sepedi verbal proficiency is an advantage).
    • Commitment to ethical, safe, and sustainable financial practices.
