PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Ensure that manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently.

Working together with supervisors and top management, to ensure that products are manufactured to a certain quality standard and adheres to other safety/industry-related regulations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Production Management:

  • Manage all resources and ensure that the factory maintains production of finished products at the required quality and efficiency level
  • Ensure daily targets are met and machines are ran optimally
  • Ensure the back orders are checked numerous times to ensure no order is late and to ensure that the production plan is set up to satisfy current requirements
  • Ensure all plans are updated, works orders are captured before leaving daily
  • Ensure and maintain a full start up and end of shift inspection, for incomplete processes, unsafe situations and maintaining of equipment and machinery is in order
  • Ensure that the systems is used correctly and efficiently at all time
  • Generate daily production report
  • Responsible for accurate weekly and monthly reporting of all production figures
  • Manage the production schedule for prebatching, oil room, blending, milling, packing, steam treatment, Sachet Machines and bottling plant.
  • Generate production plan according to back order and stock requirements
  • Generate required works orders needed
  • Scrutinise works orders for stock shortages and take necessary action as required
  • Manage shortages timeously by liaising with the stock controller/buyer for procurement
  • Prioritise orders accordingly
  • Capture works orders upon complete and ensure accuracy by conducting detailed reconciliations

Process Management:

  • Manage all processes and procedures to ensure they are correctly followed by the full production team at all times
  • Maintain excellent quality standards with regards to processes and products
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures as and when required
  • Investigate nonconformances, conduct root cause analysis and implement necessary corrective actions and preventative actions

Staff Management:

  • Manage all production staff to always perform optimally, correctly and prevent waste
  • Ensure that any and all staff members are trained and kept up to date with all relevant production requirements, procedures and regulations that need to be adhered to.
  • Manage daily attendance and time keeping of all production staff
  • Manage a good communication channel to and from the floor

Stock Management:

  • Manage your resources to ensure you always focus on setting up your production daily in a manner that will ensure the best output
  • Ensure forecasting is done and maintained at acceptable levels for all stock holding items
  • Report any whole goods stock shortages to stock controller/buyer

Production Maintenance:

  • Work with maintenance to ensure that the production maintenance is maintained
  • Ensure all machines, fans and lights are off, staff has all left and the windows and doors are closed & locked.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure housekeeping is implemented with regards to food safety and 5S requirements
  • Ensure that the production areas are compliant with the OHaSA and that all areas are safe working spaces.
  • Ensure the facility is clean and safe before leaving daily
  • Attend food safety review and Committee Meetings and ensure that all required actions identified during these meetings are implemented timeously as required
  • Attend to all other required duties as prescribed by the health and safety, food safety and 5S system
  • Ensure food safety standards are met and other required rules and policies are adhered to at all times

Personal Development:

  • Ensure that you stay on top of any and all training, procedures, processes and developments relating to the factory. Essentially you need to ensure that you know how to operate optimally in every department within production.
  • Ensure that you gain technically skills on all the machines in production for a better understanding and maintaining of them

Other:

  • You may be required from time to time to assist in other areas of the organisation as operationally required.
  • You may be required from time to time to work extra hours and / weekends when needed for production or operations to run
  • You may be required to work nightshift

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or any similar production or operational qualification essential
  • Knowledge of recipe legal compliance
  • Minimum 5 years solid working experience within a manufacturing / production environment
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel)
  • Excellent communication skill on all levels
  • A lean and efficient mindset
  • Experience in the following standards and legislative requirements are required: Labour law (for staff management), BCEA, OHSA, FSSC22000, BRCGS, 5S, Halaal and Kosher, Any other applicable legislation or legal requirement relevant to our industry
