Ikamva Labantu is a non-profit organisation that works throughout Cape Town's township communities towards a more just society where human rights can be fully actualised.
We have a holistic and community-led approach to the sustainable development of impoverished communities, focusing on early childhood development, the well-being of senior persons and afterschool initiatives for children.
We have been working with at-risk communities for 60 years by providing resources, training and support.Key performance areas:
Manage corporate communications
Manage external communications and platforms
Ikamva Labantu branding/brand management
Design and photography
Support internal communications
Minimum requirements and competencies:
A degree or diploma relevant to the field of communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or relevant field
A minimum of five years' experience in a similar role
Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong knowledge of a variety of communication channels (and knowing when to use them)
An exceptional storyteller who can bring our brand to life
Ability to effectively manage campaigns
Ability to think creatively
Planning and organising ability and strong interpersonal skills
Experience in networking/facilitating partnerships and working with external stakeholders
A real team player who easily builds relationships with internal and external people alike
Enthusiasm and willingness to work within township communities
A valid drivers licence and own vehicle
Advantageous but not essential:
Previous experience in the non-profit sector
Basic design skills and knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator
Photography skills
Basic video editing skills
Experience with WordPress, Little Green Light, Salesforce (or similar CRM systems), Mailchimp and Google Analytics
