Purpose of the Job:

The purpose of this role is to oversee and execute all aspects of technical design, manufacturing, operation, and/or maintenance activities.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Manage Technical Services
• Collaborate with artisans and associates in field, workshop, and technical office activities to manage technical services and support.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory safety requirements.
• Contribute to updates of existing technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to incorporate new technology.
• Maintain quality assurance in line with specifications.
• Perform administrative and related functions
• Participate in budgeting process.
• Update register of maintained and repaired faults.
• Procure required equipment and materials by obtaining quotations.
• Compile and submit reports.
• Provide inputs to technical operational plan.
• Update databases.
• Oversee artisans and related personnel and assets.
• Enhance the commercial value add of discipline-related activities and services.
• Monitor expenditures according to budget to ensure efficient cash management.
• Maintain job records and other registers.
• Supervise and mentor staff.
• Resource planning
• Scheduling of works
• People Management:
• Develop, motivate, and utilize human resources for the discipline to ensure a competent knowledge base for continued success of technical services according to organizational needs and requirements.
• Manage subordinates' key performance areas by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking actions to correct deviations to achieve departmental objectives.
• Other Responsibilities:
• Operate heavy lifting equipment/machinery.
• Assist production department with manufacturing of product as needed.
• Perform standby duties as required.
• Support internal projects as needed.
• Engage in continuous individual development to stay current with new technologies and procedures.
• Conduct research/literature studies on technical/engineering technology to improve expertise.
• Liaise with relevant bodies/councils on technical/engineering related matters.
• Adhere to HSE requirements.
• Report accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately.
• Attend regular toolbox talks and safety training sessions.
• Wear PPE and safety equipment at all times.
• Continuously assess the safety of the work area.
• Report equipment that is not safe to operate.
• Clean and store machinery, equipment, and tools daily.

Education and Skills:

• Team leadership training
• N5 or higher engineering studies
• Trade Test Certificate
• 10 years post-qualification experience as an artisan/artisan foreman
• Conflict management training
• Financial management course
• Peoples management course
• Technical analysis knowledge
