We are seeking a Head Livestock Agent to join our team and play a key role in sourcing the finest meat products for our customers while maintaining our commitment to quality and sustainability.

Job Summary

As the Head Livestock Agent at BraaiBox, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement and sourcing of premium meat products from high-quality farmers and producers in the Western Cape.

Your role will encompass negotiating prices, managing relationships with farmers and abattoirs, and optimizing our supply chain to meet customer demand efficiently.

Responsibilities

Sourcing:
Identify and establish relationships with local farmers and producers known for supplying top-quality beef, lamb, chicken, and pork. Build a network of reliable suppliers.

Negotiation:
Negotiate pricing and contractual agreements with farmers and producers to ensure competitive rates and consistent supply.

Abattoir and Supply Chain:

Coordinate the transportation of animals to abattoirs and manage relationships with abattoirs and feedlots to ensure the highest standards of quality and animal welfare.

Forecasting:

Collaborate with the operations team to plan and forecast supply chain needs, ensuring that customer demand is met effectively.

Quality Assurance:

Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that all meat products meet our stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• At least 10 years' experience as an abattoir buyer or livestock agent or a similar role in the meat industry.
• Extensive network and relationships with farmers and producers in the Western Cape.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to secure favourable terms and pricing.
• Knowledge of abattoir operations and experience in procuring animals for processing.
• Excellent planning and forecasting abilities.
• Understanding of sustainability and ethical sourcing practices in the meat industry.
• Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
• Exceptional communication and relationshipbuilding skills.
• A commitment to quality and a passion for the meat industry.

Job Types:
Full-time, Commission


Salary:
R30, R100,000.00 per month


Ability to commute/relocate:

• Cape Town,

Western Cape:
Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)


Experience:

• Livestock Agent / buyer: 5 years (preferred)
