    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to join our team at {company}. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the nursing services department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and promoting a positive working environment.

    Main Responsibilities

    1. Develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing strategic plan and sub-unit strategic plan in collaboration with the Nursing Services Manager.
    2. Act as a deputy to the Nursing Services Manager in their absence.
    3. Attend meetings as requested by the Nursing Services Manager.
    4. Maintain adherence to nursing standards and policies, and ensure their implementation.
    5. Assist with the selection and appointment of staff, focusing on finding candidates who align with the organization's values and goals.
    6. Implement and monitor the induction process for new employees to ensure they have a smooth transition into the role.
    7. Oversee the development and delivery of in-service training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
    8. Monitor and manage staff absenteeism, taking proactive steps to address any issues that may arise.
    9. Establish a system for mentoring, providing guidance and support to help staff develop their careers.
    10. Evaluate and refine job descriptions and scope of practice to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
    11. Promote a culture that encourages Continuous Professional Development, supporting staff in their ongoing education and growth.
    12. Work closely with the Joint Performance Management (JPM) team to evaluate performance and provide guidance to Unit Managers.
    13. Foster effective communication and collaboration between departments within the multi-disciplinary team.
    14. Drive change management initiatives, mobilizing resources to implement agreed-upon changes and improve outcomes.
    15. Regularly review staffing levels based on acuity levels in departments, making adjustments as needed.
    16. Ensure client expectations are managed according to Melomed client services policies.
    17. Conduct regular checks of Unit Managers' schedules and drug audit reports.
    18. Analyze incident reports, identifying root causes, interventions, and outcomes to inform improvements.
    19. Evaluate and manage all patients/visitor Point-of-Sale (POS) issues.
    20. Examine infection control processes, interventions, and outcomes to identify areas for improvement.

    Requirements

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
    • A minimum of 4 years' experience as a Unit Manager.
    • A Diploma and/or relevant qualifications in Nursing Administration.
    • A post-basic qualification in ICU or Trauma is advantageous.
    • Excellent MS Office computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Kronos, etc.
