Description
1. Monitor, support and maintain network infrastructure.

  • Monitor Cisco switches, Access Points, Firewalls, and network links.
  • Perform IOS upgrades on cisco switches and cisco access points as per SOP.
  • Monitor and report issues on Service provider CE equipment at branches.
  • Maintain and support network monitoring system (system upgrades, license utilization, backups etc.)
  • Manage and update the network monitoring system with all the network devices.
  • Monitor, investigate and resolve network anomalies (network spikes, network latency etc.)
  • Maintain and support network authentication system (system upgrades, backups, add/remove user profiles and groups)
  • Add network devices to the network authentication system.
  • Securely enable monitoring protocols on network switches(SSH,SNMP, TACACS etc.).
  • Perform network audits to ensure compliance to switch standards, naming convention standards etc.
  • Maintenance and management of IP management system.

  • Configure and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Assist with troubleshooting of issues on Cisco switches and network links when problems occur at the branches and head office.
  • Configure switches according to switch standard and ensure configuration compliance.
  • Update network infrastructure system documentation.
  • Assist with setting up the network for new branches, branch expansions and branch migrations.
  • Assist with Disaster Recovery testing.
  • Assist with setting up of crossconnects to partner services.
  • Assist with setting up of new network links for the branches, monitor existing network links and troubleshoot any network performance issues.
  • Create and update architectural diagrams for the network.
  • Perform traffic analysis on switch uplinks (errors, discards etc.).
  • Cisco switches configuration files backups when changes occur.

  • Liaise and correspond with 3rd party suppliers.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and assist with the procurement process.
  • Conduct proof of concepts on new technologies when required.
  • Log calls and follow up on existing calls with ISP/s (P1, P2, P3 etc.)
  • Attend monthly meetings with ISP/s to discuss network support issues and branch uptime.
  • Ordering of Cisco handsets and switches.
  • Manage maintenance support contracts and licenses for all cisco switches.
  • Liaise with cabling partners for annual maintenance on network cabinets and data center.
  • Liaise with cabling partners for network points requirements at branches and head office.

FORMAL EDUCATION

  • IT related degree/diploma
TECHNICAL/LEGAL CERTIFICATION

  • CCNA Switching and Routing
  • CCNA Voice/Security/Wireless(Advantage)

EXPERIENCE
years' experience in CISCO Networking Technology

  • IT experience: 5 years minimum
  • Insurance industry experience: 3 years (Advantage)
