An exceptional opportunity awaits a dynamic individual with the right qualification and experience to assume the position of a Chief Financial Officer.

This person will be responsible for the full financial function within the organisation including financial reporting, preparation of management and statutory information for both internal and external stakeholders, treasury management and risk management.

The individual will be expected to implement the principles of good corporate governance and participate and contribute to investment and strategic decision-making.


  • Develop and implement the organizational financial plans in alignment with the approved organizational strategy.
  • Provide effective financial control and leadership whilst working as an integral part of the team.
  • Ensure the existence of robust financial risk management strategies and policies to mitigate against risks that face the company.
  • Implement continuous financial auditing and control systems to evaluate and monitor organizational performance.
  • Prepare and present the annual financial statements and other related reports.
  • Report on operational activities, efficiencies, and variances in line with laws, regulations and policy.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies as well as best practices that are suitable.
  • Prepare annual budget and consolidative business unit budgets, financial and business plans, feasibility studies and other operational plans for approval by the Board.
  • Monitor and report on all accounting irregularities, non compliance and gaps which are related to financial systems and processes (actual and potential), and recommend corrective measures.
  • Manage service level agreements with suppliers including accountants and auditors, consultants, underwriters, etc.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with other financial institutions and regulatory bodies to operationalise working plans and corporate governance.
  • Develop and continuously improve accounting systems including software and other financial communication systems.
  • Initiate and engage in all manner of activities that will ensure financial health, growth and achievement of business goals.
  • Attract, develop, and retain talented staff including fostering of a high performance culture.
  • Be a catalyst for change.

The following minimum requirements must be met in order to be considered for this position:

  • Postgraduate tertiary qualification in commerce and banking or equivalent.
  • A Chartered Accountant with at least seven (7) years related senior executive experience preferably in a banking environment.
  • Knowledge, insight and experience in facilitating the effective management of the treasury function.
  • Knowledge of computerized systems (ERP Systems).
  • Diplomacy, discretion, negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • A proven record of a successful career in financial management.
  • Welldeveloped presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation like Banks Act, PFMA, etc.
  • Experience and ability to improve organizational efficiencies and improve returns from existing businesses.
  • High financial skills and acumen to compile, manage and report on financial status of the division
  • The ability to perceive and understand the true nature of a commercial opportunity in a competitive market and to develop strategies to harness the opportunity, specifically within the KZN environment.
