    Description

    Job Summary

    We are seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join our team at an innovative AgriTech company in Stellenbosch. As a key member of our full-stack team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of our SaaS platform for the agricultural sector.

    Main Responsibilities

    1. Refactor our vessel, container & pallet tracking system to improve performance and handle advanced use cases.
    2. Add new strategies to reconcile packhouse output with orders.
    3. Implement alerts for transportation changes (ETA updates, GPS monitoring).
    4. Replace third-party container tracking services with our own solution.
    5. Integrate with the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries APIs for enriched tracking information.
    6. Refactor the ETL pipeline architecture to an ELT-based solution.
    7. Enhance operations dashboards for various tracking libraries.
    8. Design database sharding strategies to support increased future volume.
    9. Gradually phase out old Bulma usage in favor of Tailwind CSS.
    10. Develop a proof-of-concept for using MongoDB instead of Postgres for large document tables.
    11. Implement invoice generation and payment alert features.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of development experience.

    Qualifications

    • A Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration (BBA), or Information Systems is preferred.
