    The Technology Innovation Agency promotes the careers of previously disadvantaged persons by applying the principles of the Employment Equity Act.

    Reports to position: The Fund Principal reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

    Contract Duration: Five Years Fixed Term Contract

    Purpose of the Position:

    To lead strategy development, deployment, sourcing, negotiation, and management of TIA's direct and indirect investments in the Fund of Funds business. Responsible for origination, due diligence, execution, post-transaction portfolio management and value addition in line with the Agency's investment strategy.

    Qualifications:

    • Honours Degree in Finance, Engineering, Legal or a related field.
    • FAIS RE 05 Certificate or must be obtained within six months of employment.

    Experience:

    • 10 – 12 years of relevant investment experience, particularly in fund of funds (multi-manager).
    • 5 – 7 years in a Fund Principal role within a debt or equity fund.
    • Tangible experience in commercialization funding.
    • Experience in venturing/venture building, small business management or advisory services.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Financial Perspective:

    • Conduct relevant market research to assess market opportunities.
    • Evaluating potential investments and structure deals.
    • Responsible for managing a collective Funds Portfolio size of at least R1 billion.
    • Design transactions and provide post-investment support.
    • Build and manage the investment pipeline through due diligence.

    Stakeholder Management:

    • Build influential relationships and collaborate with stakeholders.
    • Manage and enhance levels of service and communication.

    Internal Processes:

    • Develop the business case and strategy for the establishment of a Fund of Fund unit.
    • Implement approved strategy towards the establishment of relevant special purpose vehicles in TIA.

    Learning & Growth:

    • Develop implementation framework for management of the new/emerging fund manager programme.
    • Conduct impact assessments to evaluate effectiveness of the various funds under management.
