Finance Officer: Dhet Grants - Johannesburg, South Africa - University of the Witwatersrand

Key responsibilities include the following:
- All admin duties relating to DHET Grants.
- Allocation and monitoring grant budgets in several projects.
- Recording of Income & Expenditure according to IFRS & University policies and procedures.
- Process journal entries in Oracle.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and proper approval in accordance with the Delegation of Authority
- Guiding the work of financial administrators positioned in various Faculties on grants related issues.
- Use the relevant accounting and reporting systems effectively for processing and reporting.
- Working with Internal auditors and collecting information for grants Audit
- Liaising with the Auditors and various departments in resolving Audit queries.
- Oversees the preparation of annual and interim financial accounts for DHET projects.
Requirements:
- 3 year National Diploma (With accounting/ Bookkeeping)or B.Comm
- Minimum 3 years' experience within a similar role.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Excel, Word, etc.
- Knowledge of Oracle or other ERP systems advantageous.
- Strong accounting and bookkeeping background.
- Ability to work independently and schedule own daily and weekly priorities.
- Time management and results oriented.
- Knowledge of University Policies and procedures (advantageous).
- Must have an awareness of Audit processes.
