    Description

    Key Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will apply corrective measures in all HR-related tasks.

    The role is not limited to the following:

    1. Labor Law:
    2. The incumbent should have a good working knowledge of South African labor laws and PSIRA (Security) employment laws and requirements.

    1. Policies and Contracts:
    2. The candidate will design and implement company HR policies that promote a legally compliant workplace.

      They will create a policy register with approvals from CEO/Chairman, review and revise HR policies on an ongoing basis to reflect changing economic trends, legislation, and organizational goals.

      Additionally, they will organize and deliver engaging presentations to upper management regarding HR-related issues, policies, and practices.

      Drafting contracts of employment (permanent and fixed-term), drafting notices and letters where required, setting objectives as needed, and tracking progress thereon.

      The candidate will ensure HR staff addresses employee requests and grievances promptly.

      Management of employee leave records and balances on an ongoing basis and ensuring the time-tracking system is utilized by staff where required.

    1. Recruitment Process Management:
    2. The successful candidate will manage the recruitment process from start to finish when new employees are required to be appointed by the organization.

      This includes writing job descriptions for recruitment, carrying out initial screening interviews, and putting forward suitable candidates for management's consideration.

      They will also ensure the pre-employment phase (Polygraph and Background checks) is conducted internally before hiring.

    1. HR Administration:
    2. The candidate will ensure that all employee files and contracts of employment are in place and kept up-to-date.

      They will discuss employee career development paths with managers and perform other administrative duties as assigned.

      This may include maintaining employee records or updating various databases.

      They will compile a monthly HR Management report for CEO review.

    1. Disciplinary and CCMA (Labour Relations):
    2. The successful candidate will manage disciplinary action against employees for breaches of the company's disciplinary codes of conduct.

      This includes participating in disciplinary hearings.

      They will appear at the CCMA and prepare case files.

      Additionally, they will manage employee relations, such as mediating and resolving conflicts to maintain a positive working environment between employees, employers, bargaining councils, and/or unions.

    1. Training and Development:
    2. The candidate will assess employee performance based on whether they are accomplishing company objectives and provide feedback based on their performance.

      They will improve employee performance by targeting and training specific skills when required.

      Keeping records and maintaining training and orientation plans with budgets.

    1. Payroll Management:
    2. The successful candidate will oversee payroll and manage accounting records for employee salaries, which is done by the payroll administrator.

      They will implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

    1. Security Division:
    2. The candidate will keep up-to-date with the latest PSIRA legislation and requirements.

      They will oversee and manage all Security HR Administration.

      Additionally, they will help mediate and negotiate with Security staff who sometimes have hostile tendencies.

    1. Injury on Duty (IOD) Claims:
    2. The successful candidate will ensure all relevant companies are registered with COIDA and a letter of good standing is in place.

      They will keep a record of all IOD claims.

    1. Employment Equity (EE) and Labour Statistics:
    2. The candidate will manage EE Structure for all relevant companies.

      They will ensure the company adheres to the Equity Requirements Act.

      Creating and implementing an equity plan, conducting equity meetings, and minute-keeping.

      Completing yearly EE on the DOL website and submitting quarterly employment labour statistics.

    The ideal candidate will possess:

    A high school graduate with a Bachelor's degree/Diploma in HR.

    A valid driver's license.

    Proven experience with contactable references and 3 or more years of related experience.

    A proven track record as an HR Manager or other management roles.

    Comprehensive knowledge of employment law and recommended HR practices.

    Well-versed in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    Proficiency in HR information systems and databases.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including making effective presentations to upper management.

    A high diplomatic and professional attitude towards managing interpersonal relationships with people at all levels.

    Experience with workplace investigation, conflict management, handling employee grievances, and discipline.

    Leading, managing, and training employees for HR functions.

    An effective problem solver who can analyze situations to create and implement practical solutions that meet organizational goals.

    Good time management skills and capability in working with deadlines.

    Comfortable with numbers, financial information, and analyzing data;

    A proactive attitude in forecasting plausible issues and implementing protective measures.
