Harbour House Hotel in Hermanus is looking for a passionate Front office Host.

The Host is responsible for the overseeing of daily front office desk operations, ensuring employee productivity, monitoring efficiency of all processes and creating a positive work environment.


Minimum requirements

  • Matric
  • Hotel Management Diploma (advantageous)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the same or similar position
  • Multivenue experience advantageous
  • Strong OPERA knowledge
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle (advantageous)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure outstanding customer care at all times
  • Courteously and accurately answer enquiries from potential guests
  • Accept hotel reservations
  • Use suggestive upselling and cross selling to ensure maximum revenue and occupancy
  • Supervise daily shift procedures ensuring all team members adhere to standard operating procedures
  • Train, direct the work of, resolve issues/problems and coach and council front desk team to ensure quality operation
  • Resolve customer issues, complaints, problems in a quick, efficient manner to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality service
  • Allocate rooms to expected arrivals after checking guest preferences and special requests
  • Supervise the operations of the font desk to ensure an optimal level of service and hospitality is provided to guests

Operational requirements

  • Assist all departments in servicing the guests especially during high volume periods
  • Takes responsibility in the absence of hotel manager and assistant hotel manager
  • Produce hotel front desk schedules
  • Assist in event management where necessary
  • Doing daily property walkabouts and report issues
  • Hotel membership hosting

Financial

  • Adhere to company credit limit / floor limit policies
  • Controls cash transactions at the front desk and maintains complete responsibility for personal bank
  • Month end account management
  • Managing all open accounts on a daily basis

Guest Relations

  • Analysing customer feedback and providing strategic direction to continually improve overall rating
  • Responding to guest needs and anticipating their unstated ones
  • Promote all guest amenities, conveniences and programs offered
  • Recommend local tourist spots, including places to dine, shop and sightsee
