AGC Legal Recruitment is seeking a skilled Strategic Corporate Governance Lawyer to join our team in Cape Town. As a leading independent power producer, we require an experienced professional to ensure good corporate governance across our operations.

We are offering a competitive salary of R1,200,000 per annum for this position, which includes benefits and opportunities for career growth.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing advice and support on all legal aspects of our business, including internal structuring, intra-company service level agreements, and re-organisations. They will also be responsible for undertaking legal risk analysis and working with our commercial team to obtain necessary approvals for proposed investments, acquisitions, disposals, and joint ventures.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on corporate governance, compliance, and legal risk management.
• Assist with the preparation of internal approvals required, including investment committee papers, board resolutions, and board packs.
• Develop and implement policy documentation for the group, ensuring adherence by project teams to anti-corruption and code of conduct policies.
• Collaborate with our General Counsel and Company Secretary to ensure good corporate governance practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Law.
• Minimum 6 years post-admission experience in corporate governance, compliance, and legal risk management.
• Demonstrated expertise in M&A and Company Corporate law.
