Unilever International (UI) is an alternative but complimentary route to market, servicing white space opportunities not exploited by local operating countries.

It is a global business unit with 9 hubs (Singapore, US, UK, Korea, India, Dubai, France, Philippines, and Australia) with a diverse range of products, with expertise in utilizing 3rd party distributors and consolidators to reach consumers in over 75 countries.


UI have been operating successfully as an alternate RtM to complement MCOs to serve these white spaces through a network of 500+ market expansion service providers and specialists via seeding initiatives.

The market expansion providers or distributors in countries provide brand building and customer development services to UI under the agreed operating frameworks using the brand toolkits provided.

UI have strategically evolved its portfolio from availability led growth to seeding in the last 5 years.


About Business Development in UI- We build categories and brands like St Ives, Simple, Lip Care, Pet Care globally across markets, media, and channels, by enhancing brand awareness and brand through creative and effective digital mediums.

We launch Unilever brands in new markets and bring them to life.- We build market positions in white spaces by identify new opportunities, developing, defining, negotiating, and nurturing strong business relationships.

We own the business' P&L end-to-end, partner with customers, distributors, and internal cross-functional teams to manage and grow existing businesses, to deliver growth through flawless execution of projects.

MAXIMUM Execution, MAXIMUM freedom, MINIMUM to no time on alignment and PowerPoints.

This role is important because


UI Africa presents the single largest opportunity for UI globally to create a 500mn euro business which means setting a new bold vision for UI Africa = 500mn by 2025, adding over 400mn iTO to Unilever Africa and UI, making the Business Unit the best performing BU in the company and the industry and truly serving underserved consumers across Africa.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead UI managed geographies and build the entire Unilever portfolio across PC, BWB, Nutrition, Ice Cream and Home Care across different clusters in Africa
- build RTM, drive marketing, and deliver purpose driven brand building.
  • Scale niche brands across Africa and build them leveraging the power of global sourcing you will drive brands like Simple, St Ives, Shea Moisture, Vaseline, Floucaril, Paragoncyl among many others across niche and premium channels.
  • Repair Tail Brand cells
  • You will lead teams to take over tail brand cells in large markets and repair them to profitability and growth.
  • Build new channels
  • You will lead the pioneering work of leading the creation of new channels like cross border ecommerce, diaspora exports to Africans living worldwide, corporate partnerships.
  • Build New Categories
  • You will lead the creation of new categories such as lip care, sun care, noodles under our global billioneuro brands.
  • In Summary your focus is on S.P.E.E.D = Seeding, Partnerships, Ethnic, Exports, Discounters will be our 5pronged strategy.
