Purpose/strategic intent:


To lead, direct and manage the directorate who plans for and provides human settlements, informal settlements and backyarders with cost effective, socially responsible and environmentally sound services in the Cape Town metropole.

The City is committed to establishing, maintaining and improving services to informal households, helping individuals and families meet their basic needs.

We also have several housing programmes which are in place to help South Africans rent or own safe formal housing.

We provide free basic water, sanitation, and electricity to informal settlements all around Cape Town.

To maintain this level of commitment, the City of Cape Town looks to recruit a highly skilled, purpose driven and transformational leader to make a positive difference in the lives of fellow South Africans.

This is a high responsibility role, demanding ethical conduct, accountability, a commitment to excellence in service, transversal thinking and collaboration and a strong focus on the needs of citizens of Cape Town.

REQUIREMENTS:


Requirements:

A minimum of a Post Graduate or NQF Level 8 qualification relevant to the functional focus of the position
At least five years' experience at a senior managerial level within a large, complex and diverse environment
Demonstrated exceptional transformational leadership ability with capacity for innovation, and an influential and collaborative approach to developing and executing strategy
Advanced knowledge of relevant policies and legislation
Institutional Government systems, Audit and Risk management and Performance management
Budgetary and financial management
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
Strong people management and leadership skills
