Logistics Unit Manager
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
Manage the warehouse, inventory control, material handling, customer service, transportation and planning workers. Manage employee recruitment, training, coaching and development. Also manage performance and evaluate performance reviews.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer services
- Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers
- Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
- Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments
- Resolve any arising problems or complaints
- Supervise, coach and train warehouse workforce
- Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
- Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
- Inventory Control: Monthly Stock count (Pack, material and raw materials) and daily cycle counts
- People management
- Pallets Management & Budget control (Invoicing)
- WCM Logistics
- Bulk Management: Internal, External and Super group
- FG Transfer and Sign off
- Savings projects (Contribution to factory target) and Waste Management
- SAP, Ariba, MS Office
- Administrative duties
- Ensure that Indirect costs are kept within budget
- Manage outbound logistics of the site
- Improve material flow. Packaging, Raws and FG
- Improve Business Processes to attain world class status
- Improve SAP Utilization in the plant, implement world class practices
- Reduction of MUC and MUV Variances
- Implement WMS to accurately manage inventory on pallet level
- Ensure that all transporters & contractors have signed off SLAs
- Chair and support the cost governance process and meetings
- Support Khanyisa and Lords view on cost saving initiatives
- Lead the Customer Service & logistics Pillar to attain World Class Manufacturing standards
- Support waste reduction initiatives in plant
- Ensure that OTIF, DR and OR levels are managed at BBDC
- Reduce the waiting and loading time of trucks (Turn Around Time <1hrs)
- Ensure that stock recordings on daily production are done timeously
- Ensure that all planned production is according SO&P projection to achieve the budgeted recoveries
- Compile and report on monthly stock ageing reports
- Design, Implement and Manage Mass Balance Report to affect a loss deployment process
- Ensure that all Process Orders (Works Orders) are analysed weekly against the BOMs
- Reduce 3P costs
- Reduce Pallet Costs
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/ Matric
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Logistics / Warehouse /Operations Management will be an advantage
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers/ third parties, contractors and manufacturers
- Understand raw materials, processing, making and packaging
- Working knowledge and experience in production, supply chain, and planning
- Have excellent supervisory, coordination, organization, planning
- People management
- Manage multiple stakeholders and numerous improvement projects
- Subject matter expert, provide guidance and support and hold others accountable
