Job Overview:


As a Junior Construction Manager within the solar industry, you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing the construction of solar energy projects from initiation to completion.

You will work closely with senior construction managers, engineers, contractors, and various stakeholders to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget.

This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, project management principles, and renewable energy technologies.

Opportunity for a JNR Construction Manager with solar and/or electrical industry experience to join an Engineering firm in Pretoria, Moot area


Minimum requirements:

  • 12 years working experience within a solar and/or electrical industry
  • Tertiary education in a relevant field would be highly beneficial
  • Experience working on simultaneous projects/sites at a time
  • Travelling to various sites (rotation of sites)
  • Excellent communication skills on all levels
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and materials
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities

Duties will include but is not limited to:

  • Delivering PV installation project from an execution state of the project to completion.
  • From site establishment to commissioning.
  • Making sure the projects are done in time
  • Project Planning: Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets in coordination with senior management.
  • Site Management: Oversee onsite construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
  • Contractor Coordination: Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment, resolve issues, and manage subcontractor performance.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or obstacles, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure workmanship meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Budget Management: Assist in tracking project expenses, monitoring costs, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily, weekly and monthly reports, change orders, and correspondence with stakeholders.
  • Communication: Communicate regularly with internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts on project timelines and budget.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure construction activities comply with environmental regulations and minimize ecological impacts.
  • Training and Development: Continuously enhance knowledge of construction techniques, solar technologies, and project management practices through training and professional development opportunities.
