Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a non-profit organisation supporting public sector health services.

MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery support.

MatCH is looking to fill the following position under a project funded by THINK Tuberculosis and HIV Investigative Network RF NPC aimed to strengthen the health care delivery platform for TB in the Eastern Cape.

The position will be seconded to the Eastern Cape Department of Health.

Fixed term contract ending 30 September 2023


Project Manager:

Main purpose of the job


Oversee the implementation of all TB and or TBHIV modalities at all levels (province, district, sub districts, facilities) in the Eastern Cape.


Key performance areas

  • Ensure adherence of TB and or TBHIV guidelines.
  • Ensure systems for good referral and linkage are in place.
  • Facilitate Implementation of innovative TB and or TBHIV service delivery strategies.
  • Anticipate implementation challenges and take effective corrective measures as required.
  • Identify critical stakeholders and establish working relationships.
  • Monitor TB and TBHIV performance, retrieve data from DHIS, analyse and interpret, give feedback to the districts.
  • Conduct inservice trainings and onjob trainings, coach, and mentor healthcare providers.
  • Ensure verification of data is conducted.
  • Submit monthly and quarterly reports to line manager, and other reports as required.
  • Participate in management meetings as required.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Senior Management and other managers at all levels.
  • Communicate effectively with all external stakeholders, National Department of Health (NDoH), media, medical and academic institutions, and other partner organisations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by manager aligned to the role.

Required minimum education and training

  • Clinical background
  • Nursing/Public Health degree/diploma.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Professional Body registration

  • Registration with relevant Professional body of South Africa is required.

Minimum work experience

  • Minimum 3 years working experience in the public health sector.
  • 3 years' experience in a supervisory role in clinical management of TB and or
TBHIV programme.


Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

  • Certificate in TB and or TB/HIV management.
  • Sound knowledge of TB and TB/HIV integration, data management.
  • Experience in supervision, monitoring and evaluation of healthrelated projects/programmes.
  • Experience in preparation and analysis of work plans, reports (programmatic and
financial).

  • Analytical and strategic thinker.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience in financial management and project
management.

  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) essential.
  • Ability to work independently and work as part of a diverse and multi
- disciplinary
team.

  • Good attention to detail.
  • Regular travel to project sites will be required and working overtime may be
required from time to time.

  • Able to multitask and work towards meeting deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Available to commence work immediately.

Education:


  • Diploma (preferred)

Experience:


  • TB Programme supervisory work: 3 years (required)

License/Certification:
- registration with relevant South Africa professional body (required)
