Furnace Operator - Springs, South Africa - Saint-Gobain
Description
To assist operate the running of the insulation glass melting furnace in order for fibreglass of adequate quality and quantity to be produced in order to meet sales requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications required to fulfil the role
- Matric
- Engineering diploma or BTech (Chemical/Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical
Specific Work Experience, Knowledge and Skills required to fulfil the role
- Min 2years' production manufacturing experience
- Prepared to work long extended hours, if required
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Maintain a strict adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in the efficient running of the furnace.
- Recording and reporting of any process changes or problems that might occur.
- Monitor daily performance and ensure that predetermined standards are met.
- Enforce good housekeeping standards.
- Assist minimise waste generated in the process.
- Assist minimise energy usage where applicable.
- Assist maintain quality of glass fibre according to standard.
- Constant monitoring of furnace condition.
- Communicates with the Washwater Forming pit attendant on a regular basis
- Communicate to Shift manager and support functions.
- Liaise with line Supervisor regarding daily plan and product changes.
- Monitor area for any deviations and report immediately to Shift Manager
- Monitor critical furnace parameters.
- All such duties and/or activities assigned by management/board as and when required.
- Reporting of Safety and Environmental Incidents (SMATS, TF 15, EVE) as required.
- Perform any other work as detailed by the Shift Manager.
