The objective of the Technical Sales Support Professional is to support the Siemens Large Drives Sales and engineering organisations by efficiently and accurately preparing cost estimates for Product, Project, and Service proposals, and maintaining and organizing source information, templates and methods to continuously improve the efficiency of proposal generation.


Responsibilities

  • Analysing RFQ documents and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the opportunity.
  • Preparing material and labour cost estimates for Project, Product and Service proposals in coordination with Sales and Engineering.
  • Create labour schedules in coordination with Scheduler.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders as well as suppliers and contractors.
  • Manage quotations and bids from suppliers and contractors in coordination with Supply Chain Management.
  • Create and maintain database of standard prices for key commodities and suppliers
  • Create and maintain standard proposal cost calculation templates to ensure efficient, transparent costing of proposals
  • Ensure comprehensive filing of all calculations and source documentation on proposal SharePoint.
  • Responsible for development of price escalation formulae and risk estimates where applicable
  • Prepare proposal financial schedules and cost/profit calculations in the specified formats for management approval.

Reporting

  • Siemens CRM system is updated/managed with EPCM, OEM, Partners and End-Customers information, projects, and market opportunities as per departmental requirements.
  • Ensure report deadlines are met and reports are complete and accurate.
  • Provide price calculation data to the Project Acquisition (PAC) organisation to maintain CRM and bid management systems.
  • Maintain material and labour price database with analysis of price development over time
  • Support SCM with input to maintain supplier performance metrics
  • Maintain analysis of outgoing quotations (breakdown of content/value) and other metrics as may be identified

Administration

  • Ensure all relevant documents related to proposal price calculations can be sourced easily electronically or manually.
  • Supports the Sales team to prepare internal approval and review documentation in accordance with company processes
  • Supports the Sales team with preparation of customer documents
  • Ensures consistent version control of all proposal price calculations
  • Comprehensively document all assumptions, estimates and exclusions associated with price calculations

Communication Skills

  • Ensure information flows where needed and present information in an accomplished manner. Keep relevant people informed of both positive and potentially negative information.
  • Establish the appropriate business relationships with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders in the sales process.
  • Proactively inform Sales and Engineering teams of any uncertainty or challenges relating to proposal cost calculations to avoid missing customer deadlines

Siemens policies, procedures, and processes

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable Siemens business processes, policies and procedures

Requirements:


  • Relevant technical tertiary qualification in Engineering or Built Environment
  • Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis.
  • At least 3 years' industry experience with analysing requirements and developing material and costs estimates for engineering or construction projects.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities including data processing, data source integration, data aggregation, macro development and dynamic reporting
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
