    Senior Systems Engineer (SCOM)

    We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to provide specialist technical advice and support for the installation, testing, tuning, optimization, troubleshooting, repair, upgrade, and maintenance of both externally and internally supplied hardware and system software such as operating systems, data management products, office automation products, embedded systems, and other utility enabling software and related equipment.

    The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and will be responsible for ensuring the effective deployment, configuration, monitoring, and management of SCOM within our and our clients' environments.

    This role requires a subject matter expert who can provide technical leadership to peers, collaborate with application, network, and systems teams, and work closely with IT operations, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure monitoring aligns with service level agreements (SLAs) and business goals.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • SCOM Deployment and Maintenance:
      • Install, configure, and upgrade SCOM components and management packs.
      • Customize monitoring solutions to meet business and technical requirements.
    • Monitoring and Alert Management:
      • Develop and configure alerts, dashboards, and reports tailored to organizational needs.
      • Analyze and respond to alerts to ensure quick resolution of IT incidents.
    • Troubleshooting and Support:
      • Act as the escalation point for complex SCOM-related issues.
      • Collaborate with application, network, and systems teams to troubleshoot problems.
    • Automation and Scripting:
      • Create PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive monitoring and maintenance tasks.
    • Documentation and Training:
      • Prepare detailed documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
      • Provide guidance and training to junior team members and end-users.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Minimized downtime and enhanced system reliability through proactive monitoring.
    • Optimized resource utilization and system performance.
    • Comprehensive visibility into IT systems and applications.
    • Swift resolution of IT incidents with minimal business impact.

    Education Qualifications:

    • National Certificate or Technical Support NQF Level 4 SAQA ID 78966.
    • National Diploma or relevant B Degree.

    Professional Qualifications:

    • ITIL Foundation.
    • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and Cloud Services Integration.
