About the Role

We are looking for an amazing Afrikaans Teacher to join our community. As a second language teacher, you will lead the instruction of Afrikaans across multiple grades and classrooms, driving a rigorous enquiry-based learning environment. You will work closely with learning designers to design impactful lessons and deliver engaging enquiry-based lessons supported by technology.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Designing and delivering high-quality Afrikaans lessons that meet the needs of students
• Observing, coaching, and mentoring apprentice teachers to ensure they are equipped to teach effectively
• Infusing joy and passion for learning into lessons, making sure students are excited about and invested in their academic excellence
• Setting and communicating ambitious goals for all students and providing regular feedback to help them internalize it
• Conducting ongoing assessment of student progress and using data to adjust instructional content and delivery techniques
• Collaborating with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and share best practices
• Fully participating in opportunities for professional growth and development, including daily team meetings, weekly professional development meetings, and organisation-wide learning and reflection
• Communicating regularly with parents through email, phone calls, and parent-teacher conferences
• Contributing to and participating in co-curricular programming for at least one activity per term

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
• SACE registration
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in Afrikaans
• Experience and/or understanding of Cambridge curriculum objectives would be an advantage
• The ability to lead a classroom independently and inspire students to achieve their full potential
• A deep understanding of children and the ability to connect with students of different ages and backgrounds
• A passion for enquiry-based, student-centered learning and a commitment to helping students develop critical thinking skills
• An understanding of technology integration in education and experience using digital tools to enhance instructional delivery
