Engineering Specialist:

Job Description:


  • The Engineering Specialist Surface is appointed in terms of the OSH Act and is responsible for providing operational service the Workshops Section engineer, with a year planning horizon. The role ensures effective and safe Manufacturing and Maintenance of mining / engineering equipment.

You will be responsible for:


  • Assisting the Section Engineer in developing an operational plan for the year to support the achievement of throughput objectives
  • Undertake to plan, up to 12 years ahead, the budget requirements according to the planned maintenance schedules verses operational targets
  • Reviewing operational plan and reassign targets and objectives to subordinates
  • Regularly communicating progress of section against operational targets and objectives
  • Evaluating, monitor and provide continuous feedback to the section regarding the performance efficiencies, standards of the section labour, equipment, budget and process targets
  • Plan daily, weekly and monthly work requirements and priorities
  • Allocate labour resources and equipment to scheduled and priority activities so as to maintain and ensure high levels of labour, equipment and operational performance standards
  • Establish procedures for abnormal work requirements which fall outside of standard procedures
  • Identify operational priorities within the section that would ensure the optimization of the section's performance
  • Regularly review operational and technical data to extract trends, identify problems and comply management reports

This role is at a Band 6 level and reports into the

Engineering Manager:
Operations.

**Qualifications

  • You must have**:
  • Completed Matric (Grade 12) or N4 equivalent
  • Completed Trade Qualification
  • Engineering Specialist Certificate advantageous
  • BEng/BSc qualification in Engineering will be advantageous

Experience required

  • At least 5 years' experience as Engineering Foreman
  • Processing Plant experience is essential

Knowledge and Skills

  • Basic computer literacy
  • Exposure to Plant Maintenance processes is essential
  • Solid understanding of Mechanical or Electrical Drawings is essential
  • English literate
  • Valid driving license code 08
